Development and learning take place in a wide variety of locations and contexts. Informal learning plays a particularly important role in this context. However, when this works agreement refers to further development, it only covers the formalized offerings described below, which serve to implement the TUW competency catalog and can generally be applied at TU Wien. Whether and to what extent these can be used must be agreed between the immediate supervisor and the employee.

Competencies are understood to be the skills and abilities required to perform current/future tasks. The competencies required depend on the respective workplace. The competencies themselves are derived from the TU Wien Competency Catalog. Regular training courses are offered for all interdisciplinary competencies as part of internal continuing education.
