Bachelor's programmes at TU Wien generally last six semesters and are taught in German. They correspond to 180 ECTS credits and lead to the Bachelor of Science (BSc) academic degree.

Master’s programmes at TU Wien typically last for four semesters and comprise 120 ECTS credits. Although these programmes are referred to as “Master’s programmes,” graduates are awarded the traditional academic title Diplomingenieur_in (Dipl.-Ing.). Degree certificates are issued in both German and English. The English version explicitly states that the Dipl.-Ing. qualification is internationally comparable to a Master of Science (MSc).

Doctoral programmes typically last six semesters. Students must prepare a dissertation equivalent to 162 ECTS and complete taught modules totalling 18 ECTS.
