Staff Training and Development at TU Wien

As part of its professional development program, TU Wien promotes skills-oriented training and workshops for all employees. These are designed to strengthen both job-related and interdisciplinary skills and to encourage networking and diversity.

To this end, TU Wien offers a wide range of internal training, including e-learning courses, which are exclusively available to TU Wien employees. In addition, some courses are mandatory as standard training for specific target groups.

If training or eduaction needs are too specific, are not offered by TU Wien, or if the target group is too small, external providers can be used for external education and training.

Clarification of Framework Conditions

The company agreements on professional development define the respective framework conditions that must be observed for internal or external training and education:

The Comepetency Framework as a Guideline

When the company agreements on professional development refer to training and education, this only includes training measures and education that serve to implement the TU Wien Competency Framework and can generally be applied at TU Wien.

The TU Wien Kompetenz Katalog (PDF) serves as a guideline for the development of various competences at TU Wien and thus for professional development. Competence is understood to mean the essential abilities and skills required to handle current/future tasks.
Which competences are necessary depends on the respective workplace. Thus, training and education  can be of predominant/partial/no official interest and will be supported accordingly. (Further details are regulated by the company agreement on professional development.)

As a basis for formalized training and education offers, the Competency Framework supports both employees and leaders in specifically identifying their needs and selecting appropriate measures. Whether and to what extent education and training can be used must be agreed upon between the direct leader and the employee.

Integration of the Competency Framework into the Registration System for Internal Training

The registration system for internal training (TISS), opens an external URL in a new window is also linked to the Competency Framework in order to facilitate course search and selection.
