Full Title: Network of Inclusive COVEs on Circular Material Welding and Preventive Maintenance for Socially Safe, Resilient & Sustainable Automotive Manufacturing

Duration: 2025 - 2028

Abstract:

WELDNET is a European Erasmus+ initiative aimed at establishing a network of five Centres of Vocational Excellence (COVEs) focused on Circular Material Welding (CMW) and Preventive Maintenance Systems (PMS) for the automotive sector. The project fosters inclusive, resilient, and sustainable education by developing tailored training programmes and digital tools for both initial (IVET) and continuous vocational education (CVET). It adresses regional skills shortages, supports socially disadvantaged groups, and promotes digital, green, and entrepreneurial competencies through 15 micro-credential courses. TU Wien leads the stragegic design of regional skills ecosystems and governance models, supporting public-private partnerships and Living Labs and contributes to establishing the COV Excellence Center in Austria. A dedicated digital platform ensures learner access, certification, and impact tracking. Through cross-regional collaboration and dissemination, WELDNET aims to shape the future of vocational education and drive innovation in advanced manufacturing.

Kurzfassung:

WELDNET ist eine europäische Erasmus+ Initiative, die darauf abzielt, ein Netzwerk von fünf Zentren der beruflichen Exzellenz (Centres of Vocational Excellence, COVEs) zu errichten, die sich auf das Schweißen von Rundmaterial (Circular Material Welding, CMW) und präventive Wartungssysteme (Preventive Maintenance Systems, PMS) für den Automobilsektor konzentrieren. Das Projekt fördert eine integrative, belastbare und nachhaltige Bildung durch die Entwicklung maßgeschneiderter Schulungsprogramme und digitaler Tools für die berufliche Erstausbildung (IVET) und die berufliche Weiterbildung (CVET). Es adressiert den regionalen Fachkräftemangel, unterstützt sozial benachteiligte Gruppen und fördert digitale, grüne und unternehmerische Kompetenzen durch 15 Micro-Credential-Kurse. Die TU Wien ist federführend bei der strategischen Gestaltung von regionalen Kompetenz-Ökosystemen und Governance-Modellen und unterstützt öffentlich-private Partnerschaften und Living Labs und trägt zum Aufbau des COV-Exzellenzzentrums in Österreich bei. Eine spezielle digitale Plattform gewährleistet den Zugang zu den Lernenden, die Zertifizierung und die Verfolgung der Auswirkungen. Durch überregionale Zusammenarbeit und Verbreitung will WELDNET die Zukunft der beruflichen Bildung gestalten und Innovationen in der fortgeschrittenen Fertigung vorantreiben.
