Welcome to the Faculty of Mathematics and Geoinformation!

On our website, you will find a wealth of information about the degree programmes offered by our faculty and our main areas of research.

The fact that mathematics and geodesy/geoinformation are united within a single faculty at TU Wien is primarily due to historical reasons. For example, land surveying was once referred to as practical geometry, and the term geometer is still used today to describe a geodesist. However, there are also numerous connections between these two disciplines in modern research. In many areas of geodesy, such as higher geodesy and remote sensing, sophisticated mathematical and numerical methods and algorithms play a crucial role.

We invite you to explore our degree programmes, our internationally competitive research activities, and the renowned researchers working at our faculty.

Graduates in mathematics and geodesy continue to be in high demand on the job market. Whether you are considering studying at our faculty or are already enrolled, you can be confident that your studies will provide you with a solid foundation for your future career.

The Dean’s Office supports the Dean and the Deans of Academic Affairs in their responsibilities and is always happy to assist you with administrative matters.

If you need further information or have specific questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. I would also be delighted to meet you in person.
