The Joint Study mobility programme offers students the opportunity to spend one or two semesters at an international partner university. Unlike Erasmus+, Joint Study focuses primarily on worldwide exchanges, mostly outside the EU.

What is Joint-Study?

Joint Study is based on bilateral agreements between TU Wien and selected partner universities worldwide. Participants have the opportunity to gain valuable experience abroad as part of their regular studies – without additional tuition fees at the host university.

Advantages of the programme

  • Individual choice of a study place at renowned universities worldwide
  • Academic recognition of credits earned abroad
  • Possibility of financial support (e.g. travel grants, mobility grants)

Basic requirements

  • Regular studies at TUW
  • Successful completion of a minimum number of ECTS credits (e.g. 90 ECTS in a Bachelor's programme) – Partner-specific requirements
  • Fulfilment of the language and admission requirements of the host university
  • Timely application via the Service Unit Student and Staff Exchange Services (E063-01)

Application and procedure

The exact procedure and application requirements may vary slightly depending on the partner university and the programme guidelines. More information can be found on the respective detailed programme pages.
