Programme

The programme promotes traineeships in companies or research institutes in the EEA countries and Turkey. Excluded are institutions of the European Union and diplomatic missions of the candidate's home country.

Traineeship duration

2 – 12 months

Grants

Grants are awarded subject to budget availability. There is no legal entitlement to the grant.

Due to budget constraints, the maximum funding period is currently four months.

For Erasmus+ stays in the academic year 2026/27, the grant consists of a monthly grant amount and a contribution to travel costs:

  • Monthly grant amounts for the academic year 2026/27 (PDF)
  • Contribution to travel costs (PDF) depending on the distance to the host country. There is a higher funding for environmentally friendly travelling. We recommend environmentally friendly traveling for distances up to 500 km! Sustainable transport: bike, bus, shared car travel, and train.

Travel green with the Interrail Pass for Erasmus+ = train ticket that allows unlimited travel on participating European train networks, ferries and public transport companies for either 4 or 6 days within a 6-month period. The pass can therefore also be used to visit your host country or neighboring countries during your stay abroad. The pass is only available to Erasmus+ participants, students and staff residing in a European country.
Inclusion support

Students with a disability or students with children can apply to OeAD for an inclusion support. See:

Traineeship

Erasmus+ traineeships are based on  a traineeship agreement, also known as the "Learning Agreement for Traineeship". This is concluded between the student, TU Wien and the  host institution. On the part of TU Wien, the training agreement is signed by the Dean of Academic Affairs in your field of study.

Please note: The Learning Agreement for Traineeships must be fully completed, otherwise it will not be accepted.

In addition to the company’s address and telephone number, it is also important to indicate its web address. A company stamp must accompany the signature of the company representative.

TU Wien does not arrange any contacts to companies abroad – i.e. you have to find your traineeship yourself.

Application

The application is possible at any time. From the time of agreement by the company, you should plan 2–3 months till you can submit the Learning Agreement for Traineeship signed by all parties to the International Mobility Office of TU Wien.

Submission deadline: at least 30 calendar days before the start of the traineeship, for a graduate traineeship 60 calendar days before the completion of your studies.

Please apply and create the Learning Agreement for Traineeship via TU Wien Mobility Online, opens an external URL in a new window.

Recognition

Erasmus+ Traineeships that are not compulsory but are undertaken voluntarily during your studies cannot be listed on your Transcript of Records. However, they must be included in the Diploma Supplement. You must therefore contact your faculty office after the placement and request that it be included in the Diploma Supplement (under point 6.1: ‘List all individual learning achievements acquired outside the degree programme and/or any additional information not listed above but certified by the institution and relevant to the assessment of the nature, level and use of the qualification’). For example, a period spent abroad, an internship, voluntary work, etc., for which the student has not received any credit points or recognition, but which nevertheless contribute to the graduate’s learning outcomes.)

Note

A maximum of one traineeship is possible in your home country. We cannot nominate any further internships in your home country as it goes against the Erasmus+ principle: new culture and new language.
