Welcome to the Thomas Pohl research group
at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at TU Wien.

Our research group is concerned with the theoretical investigation of quantum systems and their collective behaviour, which arises from strong interactions and coupling to light. We are dedicated to the question of how quantum phases and collective effects emerge from microscopic interactions and how these systems can be used to manipulate quantum light in a targeted manner.

Current research foci include:

  • Interacting photons in ordered structures
  • Open quantum systems in non-equilibrium
  • Dipolar quantum gases
  • Quantum optics and nonlinear optics
  • Many-body physics and non-equilibrium dynamics
