The laboratory is equipped with various air supply systems, each offering different flow rates and pressure ratios. These include the SGP, GHH, and PGW air supply systems, as well as a Roots blower and screw compressors. These systems supply the various test rigs, enabling precise experimental investigations of air and gas flows.

Air supply system

4 thermally insulated vertical pipes of an air supply system with temperature sensors.
  • Supply of hot and cold air for test rigs in the laboratory, ϑmax = 400 °C,
  • Max. mass flow of air mDot_Air_max = 0,138 kg/s,
  • Max. electric heating power Pel = 32 kW,
  • Switching between operating conditions “Heating” and “Cooling” by using pneumatic flaps,
  • Connected to the process control system – e. g. for the periodic implementation of charging-/discharging-mode at regenerative thermal storage systems.

Roots blowers

  • Two variable speed roots blowers, VDot = 3500 mN3/h delivery volume,
  • Max. overpressure pMax = 0,3 bar
  • Blowers are single controlled

  • Two screw-compressors, Kaeser CS121 und DS 200,
  • Max. overpressure pMax = 13 bar
  • delivery volume: CS121 VDot =10,3 mN3/min, DS200 VDot =14,3 mN3/min
