How does the brain work? In the field of mathematical neuroscience, modelling brain activity is important because it can provide new insights into how the brain functions. This complex activity can be measured using various methods. Our research group focuses on two methods: electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). In collaboration with the Biosignal Analysis Group at the Technical University of Munich, we primarily focus on modelling and analyzing EEG and fMRI signals. Our goal is to use model analyses and entropy calculations to classify the level of wakefulness, or state of consciousness, of anesthetized patients during surgery.
