cycleFIT is a project by TU Wien for TU Wien

Together we are shaping a bike-friendly, healthy, and sustainable mobility culture on campus.

Many students, faculty members, and staff would like to commute to TU Wien by bicycle. However, missing parking facilities, uncertainties in the cycling network, or insufficient infrastructure often make this choice difficult. This is exactly where cycleFIT comes in: we identify and remove barriers, develop practical solutions, and integrate cycling structurally into everyday university life.

What is cycleFIT?

cycleFIT connects research, teaching, and university operations in a shared development process.

In the TU Wien Living Lab, we analyze existing conditions, map problem areas, develop prototypes, and test them directly on campus. At the same time, we connect relevant stakeholders and integrate cycling mobility into existing processes.

The project stands for:

Get involved

cycleFIT thrives on participation. Students, academic staff, and employees contribute their perspectives through courses, workshops, events, and digital participation formats.

Together, we develop concrete solutions for a more bicycle-friendly TU Wien. Based on data, participatory processes, and close collaboration with key stakeholders, sustainable cycling mobility is gradually strengthened and embedded in everyday university life.

Our goal

We aim to strengthen cycling at the TU Wien by improving infrastructure, developing new services, and strategically integrating the topic into the university’s operations.

cycleFIT contributes to creating conditions that make cycling a practical and attractive mode of transport for students, academic staff, and employees. In doing so, the project supports climate-friendly mobility and contributes to the further development of the university as a responsible actor within the urban environment.
