We stand for an open, fair, and forward-looking TU Wien

ZUG was founded as an initiative by mostly fixed-term employees—people with a strong interest in engaging with and for the university. We are committed to a modern, forward-thinking university with attractive working conditions, high job satisfaction, and individual opportunities for development. Since our election to the works council and in our dealings with the university management, we have consistently advocated transparency, co-determination, sustainable development, and good working conditions for all employees, and we always make time for our colleagues' concerns.

On the Works Council since 2020! We’ve achieved a lot!

  • The past five years have been marked by many changes and new influences. The topic of remote work (home office) has been taken up by TU Wien, incorporated into several internal policies, and, since the COVID crisis, has become a normal part of everyday work. It has always been important to us that employees retain the freedom to choose—those who wish to work on-site should be able to do so.
  • The ZUG list is committed to a cycleFIT university: We are committed to promoting a bicycle-friendly infrastructure in and around the TU, which also benefits other activities—community, climate fitness, and health!
  • ZUG in the Works Council leadership team: Since 2024, with Kurt Weninger, a member of the ZUG list has, for the first time, joined the council’s leadership team. This enables us to contribute even more actively to addressing the needs and concerns of employees.

In the next term as well, ZUG will stand for the factual and determined representation of the interests of all employees—regardless of hierarchy or political affiliation. We particularly represent the interests of the „Mittelbau“ (academic and administrative middle staff). One of our key concerns is to advocate for employees in fixed-term and precarious positions. It is also important to us to include student employees, who are rarely represented in official bodies but are a vital support in TU Wien’s daily operations.

In addition, we stand for fair employment conditions and prospects, for equality and equal opportunities, as well as for relief in teaching, research, and organization through clear structures, further training, and transparent career paths.

Another key concern for us is the compatibility of family, career, and individual work arrangements, an open communication culture with co-determination for all employees, as well as sustainability and mobility for a climate-friendly and healthy working environment.
