Short Bio

Dr. Jiří Pavelec studied Engineering Physics at Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic, graduating (M.Sc.) in 2012. He then joined the Surface Physics group of Prof. Ulrike Diebold at the Institute of Applied Physics, TU Wien, Austria, completing his Ph.D. in 2019. His doctoral research focused on developing a quantitative surface chemistry setup, which has has demonstrated its performance already in the first measurements for investigating CO₂ adsorption on Fe₃O₄(001) surfaces. Following his Ph.D., he stayed at TU Wien as a postdoctoral researcher and was appointed as a permanent Senior Scientist in 2023. Dr. Pavelec specializes in advanced experimental methods, particularly quantitative temperature programmed desorption (TPD) and highly sensitive infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy (IRAS), for studying model catalysts, with a particular focus on single-site catalyst systems.
