The Planners' Day 2022 was a continuation of the Planners' Day 2019 in Vienna, which was dedicated to questions of strategic inner development of our settlement systems. The exchange was aimed at freelance planners, colleagues in planning administration and science, actors in politics and civil society, and above all students of spatial planning and development. Our colleague Sibylla Zech, together with courageous personalities, led this year's Planners' Day through a panel discussion on the multiple crisis situations in which we currently find ourselves. The panellists were landscape planning professor Cordula Loidl-Reisch, spatial planning civil engineer Esther Böhm, climate activist Lena Habsburg and mayor Angelika Schwarzmann. The discussion focused on the climate and biodiversity crisis; refugee movements, which will increase massively due to the overheating of the earth; the energy crisis - which is suddenly being taken seriously by many; the Corona pandemic, new and completely unexpected - and the war in Europe.
At the podium, the personal concern and responsibility became tangible, because "the crisis is all of us". At the same time, however, the professional qualifications, a wealth of experience and tools from the various fields of work became visible: these include regional cooperation, energy planning, green space design and participation processes.
