On this page, you will find statistical figures on studies at TU Wien, which can be filtered and exported independently using the interactive report.

Comparative figures for other universities and colleges in Austria can be found in the “Datawarehouse Hochschulbereich, opens an external URL in a new window” (higher education data warehouse) of the UniData data network. In addition to figures on new students and graduates, you will also find the Statistical Pocketbook, opens an external URL in a new window going back to 1983.

Facts and figures on gender ratios among students and staff can be found in the annual Gender Monitoring report.

Interactive report

As is customary in university-related reports, the interactive report distinguishes between “study programs” and “students.” “Students” are individuals who are enrolled in one or more "study programs" at TU Wien. In the case of “jointly established study programs” with other universities (e.g., MA Green Chemistry), a distribution key is used to calculate the number of “study programs.” For example, a study program established at TU Wien in collaboration with two other universities counts as 1/3 of a study program for TU Wien.
For the number of “students” (heads) no distribution key is used.

Category “Beginners”

  • First-year students per semester per capita (i.e., per student) and per degree program (multiple degrees per student possible)
  • Filter options by academic year, type of study (bachelor's, master's, etc.), study code or ISCED fields, as well as by country groups (Austria, EU, third countries)

Category “Students”

  • Total number of students per semester per capita (i.e., per student) and per study program (multiple entries per student possible)
  • Filter options by academic year, type of study (bachelor's, master's, etc.), study code or ISCED fields, as well as by country group (Austria, EU, third countries)

Category “Graduates”

  • Graduates from regular studies (by gender) per academic year (multiple degrees per student possible)
  • Average age in years of new entrants, students, and graduates by academic year
  • Degrees from regular programs by field of study
  • Filter options by academic year, type of study (bachelor's, master's, etc.), study code, or ISCED fields, as well as by country group (Austria, EU, third countries)

Category “BSG table”

  • The BSG (beginners, students, graduates) table shows the same information as the broken-down evaluations above, but in a more compact form so that it can be further processed (e.g., after downloading).
  • Filter options by academic year, type of study (bachelor's, master's, etc.), study code or ISCED fields, as well as by country groups (Austria, EU, third countries).

After selecting an evaluation category from the sidebar, you can use the filter settings in the header (top menu bar) to filter the data by:

  • Academic year
  • Type of study
  • Field of study
  • Key figure - Study
  • ISCEDF13

If you want to limit the period to specific academic years, you can select a specific academic year in the “academic year” filter by left-clicking on it - or you can select multiple academic years by pressing CTRL+left-click (on the academic years you want to select).

Information on ISCED (International Standard Classification of Education) and which studies belong to which ISCED field can be found here: ISCED information (OEAD), opens an external URL in a new window or on the Statistics Austria, opens an external URL in a new window website (in the classification database > education classifications).

The elements displayed (diagrams, tables) offer additional options that become visible when you hover over the upper right corner of the elements. There, you can export data tables as Excel files.

To export data, proceed as follows:

  1. Hover your mouse over the upper right corner of the diagram/table.
  2. In the menu bar that appears, click on “...” (more options) and select “export data.”
  3. In the pop-up menu, click on “export.”
