The NES is seeking a Project Assistant (f/m/d).This full-time position (40 hours per week, initially limited to 12 months) offers the possibility of an extension for an additional 24–30 months as well as further development towards a doctoral degree. The project involves close collaboration with Austrian grid operators to develop scientific foundations for ensuring the long-term integrity of the power system as the share of converter-based generation continues to grow.

Help shape the future of energy systems! At the Institute of Energy Systems and Electrical Drives – Research Unit for Energy Systems and Grids (NES) at TU Wien, you will work on innovative solutions for the planning and operation of AC/DC hybrid grids. In close collaboration with industry and research partners, you will address cutting-edge challenges of the energy transition, develop simulation models, and advance research on embedded DC systems. The position is initially limited to 12 months, with the possibility of a three-year extension including the opportunity to pursue a PhD, subject to successful project outcomes.
