Energy and climate-related analysis and planning in Biedermannsdorf (2024S)
In the summer semester of 2024, the course “Energy and climate-relevant analysis and planning” took place as part of the Master's elective module 4 “Mobility and spatial energy planning”. As part of the project, the Master's students worked with the municipality of Biedermannsdorf in Lower Austria to develop drafts for future-oriented energy concepts for the municipality.
After a lot of work and successful data modeling, the mid-term presentation took place in May of 2024. Content on the status quo of energy demand, CO2 emissions and mobility was presented and discussed with the very interested citizens and local councillors. The students were able to take away many interesting ideas, after which they moved on to the design and scenario phase for integrated spatial energy planning for selected districts.
On June 26, 2024, exciting visions and inventories were presented to an expert audience as part of the final presentation.
The event was well attended and there was a lively exchange with interested and thematically very competent citizens and local councillors. The focus of the energy spatial planning was on integrated perspectives on the topics of heat, electricity and mobility - both in the status quo of the municipality and in future visions entitled “Biedermannsdorf connects” and “New town center”. The municipality of Biedermannsdorf (3,155 inhabitants) is located in the district of Mödling, the neighboring municipality is Vösendorf. In order to achieve the climate targets set by the EU and the provincial government, the municipality must and wants to take important steps towards renewable energies, energy efficiency and energy saving.
The results were published in the form of a booklet in the fall of 2024:
