GEECCO Evaluation & Monitoring Tutorials

The GESIS gender equality plan (GEP) evaluation team has developed five online evaluation and monitoring tutorials. The topics were selected based on GEECCO’s experiences during the baseline data collection and formative mid-term evaluation, as well as feedback from the GEECCO consortium:

1. GEECCO Data Monitoring Tool
2. GEECCO Infographic: Gender Equality Approaches and Their Impact on GEP Implementation
3. GEECCO Infographic: SMART Gender Equality Objectives
4. GEECCO Explainer Video: Gender Equality Plans in Technical Universities and the Use of Logic Models
5. GEECCO Log Journal

GEECCO Data Monitoring Tool

The GEECCO Data Monitoring Tool provides a template for monitoring sex-disaggregated data at research performing organisations (RPOs). It is designed to generate and monitor relevant process data in relation to a set of gender equality targets. The tool includes several indicators that show progress towards specific gender equality objectives. It covers the following three areas decision-making processes and bodies; recruitment and career development of women researchers and staff; and the gender dimension in research and teaching. The collected data enables in-depth gender analysis of gaps and progress in these areas. The tool is thus a resource for collecting sex-disaggregated data and monitoring quantitative gender-equality indicators at RPOs.

GEECCO Infographic ‘Gender Equality Approaches and Their Impact on GEP Implementation’

The GEECCO infographic ‘Gender Equality Approaches and Their Impact on GEP Implementation’ aims to deliver basic conceptual knowledge of three different approaches to gender equality: promoting women; gender mainstreaming; and diversity management. It offers an overview of the main differences and similarities between the three approaches and of how they affect gender equality plan (GEP) strategies and implementation. The infographic supports capacity-building processes at RPOs concerning the relationship between conceptual gender equality approaches and gender equality practices, including GEP design and implementation.

GEECCO Infographic ‘SMART Gender Equality Objectives’

The GEECCO infographic ‘SMART Gender Equality Objectives’ provides a helpful snapshot of how to improve gender equality plan (GEP) set-up by formulating SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound) objectives. It is intended to help gender equality officers and agents at research performing organisations formulate SMART objectives for their own GEPs. It is also a resource for improving the GEP implementation process by categorising gender-equality objectives as key objectives, intermediate objectives, and action goals.

GEECCO Explainer Video: Gender Equality Plans in Technical Universities and the Use of Logic Models

The GEECCO explainer video ‘Gender Equality Plans in Technical Universities and the Use of Logic Models’ highlights how gender equality officers and agents at research performing organisations can use logic models to evaluate gender equality measures in specific areas of action. It provides an intuitive overview of the basic features of logic models and the main steps for developing them. Logic models can be used to retrospectively assess whether a gender equality plan (GEP) has worked as intended per action area. Their use for evaluating GEPs enables a better understanding of cause-effect relationships between implemented gender equality measures and their impacts.

GEECCO Log Journal

The GEECCO Log Journal tutorial addresses needs and change processes related to monitoring the implementation of gender-equality measures at research-funding organisations (RFOs). Developed in collaboration with the RFO partners TACR and WWTF, it is a knowledge resource for relevant quantitative indicators for monitoring progress towards gender-equality objectives at RFOs.
