Manuela Marik - 40 Years at TU Wien
Congratulations to Amtsdir. Reg.Rätin Manuela Marik, who recently celebrated her 40th anniversary at TU Wien. Since joining the Institute of Applied Physics in 1985, she has been a cornerstone of our institute — combining professionalism, dedication, and genuine care for colleagues. As Co-Coordinator of the Physics Lab Courses and Head of Technical Administration, she has shaped the daily life of the institute for decades. Beyond that, her commitment as Chair of the Staff Council, Safety Representative, Fire Protection Officer, Data Protection Officer, and organizer of numerous international conferences and training events has left a lasting mark on the TU Wien community.
The Institute wholeheartedly congratulates Manuela on this remarkable milestone and thanks her for 40 years of outstanding service and dedication.
Retirement of Wolfgang Werner
After more than 30 years at TU Wien, Assoc. Prof. Wolfgang Werner has retired from his full-time position at the Institute of Applied Physics. Since joining in 1992, he has advanced our understanding of electron–solid interactions, and developed the SESSA simulation code in collaboration with NIST — now a key tool in XPS and surface analysis.
Renowned for his flair for the finer things in life, Wolfgang also gifted us the institute’s most delicious tradition — nitrogen ice-cream at the Christmas party. We are delighted that he will continue contributing his expertise to the institute for four hours per week, ensuring that his experience and good spirit remain part of our daily life.
Prost, Wolfgang!
