Since the last Zoom contract extension, the licenses for employees and students have differed. The differences are generally hardly noticeable, but can lead to problems in detail. For example, employees have the following additional features compared to students:
- Webinar
- Meeting with 500 participants (instead of 300)
- 10GB cloud storage (instead of 0.5GB)
Unfortunately, Zoom has failed to adapt the API for automatic license assignment to the separate licenses. As a result, employees may receive a student license. We are in contact with support and are waiting for Zoom to make improvements.
If you have mistakenly received a student license and require one of the missing features, please contact us via ticket or contact our service center.
Update from November 7, 2025
Zoom has resolved the API issue, but a solution for currently incorrectly assigned licenses is still pending. We are once again waiting for Zoom Support.
Update from December 2, 2025
All new orders are being assigned correctly and there are sufficient licenses available again, so there will be no more problems with reassignments. Any licenses that may have been incorrectly assigned still need to be corrected by Zoom. However, Zoom cannot provide an estimate of how long this will take. If you are affected by this, please contact our service center.
