New Navigation and Search on the Website

Over the past few months, the website team has been working with colleagues from Corporate Communications Communications on behalf of the Rectorate to further develop the menu navigation and search function of our central university website.

This has resulted in two key innovations:

  • A revised navigation structure with target group-oriented logic
  • A fully internally hosted, AI-supported search function

New navigation

The website's navigation is now more intuitive and better tailored to user needs and contemporary user behaviour – including certified accessibility! Feedback from users and internal web editors, as well as insights from access statistics and search queries, were incorporated into the review of the menu navigation. In addition, topics that are more strongly focused on at TU Wien in line with its fuTUre fit objectives are also featured.

New search

The search function on the TUW-Website has also been redesigned. It now delivers significantly faster, higher-quality results and is hosted entirely in-house. The search function was developed in close collaboration with the AI team at TU Wien and is supported by a large language model (LLM). It is configured so that additional systems can be connected in the future to make their information centrally accessible.
