The Dean's Office of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration supervises the following studies:

The following individual studies have already been approved by the Dean of Academic Affairs:

Bachelor Programmes:

  • Mechanical Engineering with focus on Mecatronics
  • Material Sciences and Technology

Master Programmes:

  • Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering (ME) / Mechanical Engineering - Management (ME-M)

If you are interested in those programmes, please enroll into the Bachelor's Programme Mechanical Engineering oder Mechanical Engineering Management and then contact the Deans of Academic Affairs (Ao. Prof. Dr. Melanie Todt, Univ.Prof. Dr. Paul Mayrhofer) as well as the STUKO Chairwoman (Ass.Prof. Dr. Isabella C. Skrna-Jakl).

The English-language Master's Programme still requires German at the C1 level. The following modules can be taken in English to complete the corresponding Master:

  • Advanced Modules (6 required):
    • Numerical Methods for Fluid and Thermal Engineering (both)
    • Surface Technology (both)
    • Fluid Mechanics 2 (both)
    • Materials Technology (both)
    • Human Resource Management and Leadership (both)
    • 1 individually from the Dean of Academic Affairs approved Advanced Module that consists of lectures held in English to an overarching theme. A query of courses taught in English can be found on the supervised studies page or after the listing
  • Vocational Field Orientation Modules (2 required):
    • Tissue Biomechanics (both)
    • Composite-Structures (both)
    • Aircraft Design (both)
    • Entrepreneurship and Innovation (ME-M)
    • Financial Management (ME-M)
    • Managing People and Organizations (ME-M)
    • Production Information Management (ME-M)
    • Risk Management (ME-M)
    • and/or one individually from the Dean of Academic Affairs approved Vocational Field Orientation Module

Information about which courses will be held in English this academic year, or in English on demand, can be found in the Tiss system using the advanced search or by clicking on the relevant links.

A well-established network of universities worldwide is available to you. Relevant coursework is credited towards the degree. Advanced internships can also be undertaken in industry after prior consultation with the Dean of Studies.

We have no direct responsibility for students studying abroad. If you would like to spend part of your studies abroad, please contact the International Office of TU Wien. Further information about our various programmes and cooperations can be found there.

The following regulations/requirements for the issuance of a certificate for an elective internship (equivalent to the courses 'Wahlübungen Technologisch') apply specifically to Chemical and Process Engineering (for Sustainable Production):

  • The industrial internship activity is relevant to the process engineering degree program.
  • A written report is submitted by the student, showing the relation to the process engineering course and including at least the following contents
    • the task
    • the activities carried out
    • if applicable, and if no NDA prevents it, summarised results of the activity
    • a summary.
  • A confirmation from the supervisor in the industrial company (e.g. service certificate), from which the nature and extent (working hours per week) of the activity can be derived in terms of ETCS points and an evaluation in terms of a grade.
  • One week of full-time work corresponds to approximately 1 ECTS, provided that the work carried out is exclusively relevant to the subject.

Course enrolment (Link to the Admissions Office) takes place in the Admissions Office in the main TU Wien building, Karlsplatz 13, staircase 2, first floor.

The Student Council of Mechanical Engineering provides many services for students, including giving enrolment advice.
This advisory service is available in September (more specific timing can be found at Students Council for Mechanical Engineering) in the small auditorium in the main building (ground floor), Karlsplatz 13. It is part of the Student Union at TU Wien.

According to the Recognition Regulation of the Vice-Rectorate for Studies and Teaching, the following applies:

The "Angleichungskurs Mathematik" (VU) offered at TU Wien is recognised as a free elective subject to the extent of 1 ECTS credit point in all regular Bachelor's programmes at TU Wien after positive completion.
