As a member of a TU Wien institute, you can contribute to building the library’s collection and obtain scientific literature needed at your institute.

You can use the order form, opens an external URL in a new window to order books for your institute via the Books Service Group.
As a department manager or institute manager, you are automatically authorised to submit these orders. At the request of the head of institute or department, additional explicitly appointed people will receive the relevant rights from the TISS Helpdesk (send an e-mail to inside@tiss.tuwien.ac.at).

Your institute has a library budget. Please make use of this budget during the year, as any remaining funds cannot be transferred to the next year's budget.

In line with procurement law, any books published in languages other than German must be ordered centrally via the library. This does not apply to proceedings that you have acquired on-site whilst attending a conference, or to book purchases with particularly high discounts that you, as a member of TU Wien academic staff, receive through memberships or similar.

If you would like to order an e-book, please send us an order using the order form, opens an external URL in a new window with the comment "Buy e-book". We will search for a purchase opportunity and price and get back to you. Due to the various publishers' sales models, we regret that it is not always possible to purchase individual e-books.

You can order books published in German yourself, as required.

In order to enable subsequent invoice settlement, we require that you have the book and invoice signed by the person responsible for the budget.

Please ensure that you receive 10% library discount when ordering through domestic booksellers.
Also, please ensure that the order mentions TU Wien and that the TU Wien tax reference number (ATU 376775002) and the dealer's VAT number are included on the invoice. If you are ordering from abroad, VAT must not be charged.
"Public sector" (i.e. universities, institutions, etc.) consignments are exempt from VAT. In these cases, tax references do not need to be stated on the invoices, but also VAT must not be charged.
Please also note that direct ordering abroad may incur additional postage and packaging costs, VAT or import sales tax (duty for non-EU countries) and bank transfer charges.

  • If, as a private individual, you have pre-financed literature published in the German language for your institute, you can have the costs refunded by selling it to the institute. To do this, first enter the private sale in SAP Services. (Please enter the book title in the form field "Note". For foreign currencies, please enter the amount  solely in Euros.) Print out the  form, have it signed by a person responsible for the budget, and send it to the library via in-house mail, together with all documents (payment receipt, payment confirmation, credit card statement, or similar documentation) and the book.
  • In line with public procurement law, since 2017, private sales of books in languages other than German are no longer eligible to be settled via the book budget. Exceptions are proceedings that you have acquired on-site whilst attending a conference, or book purchases with particularly high discounts that you, as a member of TU Wien academic staff, receive through memberships or similar.

If you want the main library to acquire literature for its holdings, please use the TISS order form, opens an external URL in a new window or contact us by email. In the TISS order form, you can choose the option "open access shelves" (only one copy) or "textbook collection" (several copies). For textbooks, please specify the number of copies.
