Under the motto ‘We dare to open science’, TU Wien Bibliothek hosted the first Open Science Day on 03 June 2025. For one day, everything revolved around open science - with presentations and discussions on topics such as open access, (open) research data, open source and citizen science. The focus was on transdisciplinary collaboration and exchange between faculties and TU Wien Bibliothek.

Researchers from a wide range of disciplines came together, shared good practices and discussed the challenges of an open research culture. The day not only offered exciting content, but also space for networking - planned and unplanned: A fire alarm meant that networking and lunch together had to be moved outside.

The Open Science Day was a successful start to strengthening open and free access to knowledge as a lived practice across disciplinary boundaries at TU Wien. The positive response shows: The courage to be open is worthwhile - scientifically, institutionally and personally. TU Wien Bibliothek is looking forward to organising the Open Science Day again next year!
