TU Wien Academic Press - New release: "Planung und räumliche Wirkungen von sozialen Infrastrukturen"

Current results of research on the role of spatial planning in housing, education, culture, and health and care services.

Yearbook Spatial Planning 2023

Social infrastructures are an essential element of public services. The planning, design, adaptation and safeguarding of infrastructures for education, community work, health and care are at the centre of social and economic policy agendas. At the same time, questions such as location and accessibility are also core issues of spatial planning: Which (public) goods and services are necessary for everyday life, for a "good life for all"? Whose everyday realities are being discussed and how has the everyday life of people in cities changed? How and where should these goods and services be provided and for whom? What about access to and quality of social infrastructures?

In addition to the two core topics of housing and education, this interdisciplinary volume deals with further current issues in spatial planning. It offers contributions on current topics of spatial research and addresses not only planning practice, local politics and urban planning but also civil society and administration.

The book is published as volume 9 of the series "Jahrbuch Raumplanung" (Yearbook Spatial Planning) that aims to promote discourse and knowledge exchange in research and practice.
