“The ability to decide what happens within a certain period of time is generally of particular importance in economic matters.”

In his dissertation, opens an external URL in a new window, Dr. Gernot Anton Strasser, opens an external URL in a new window analyzes the temporal freedoms that construction companies have when performing construction work and how restrictions affect capacity planning. To describe the effects, a probabilistic capacity assessment model is introduced and capacity requirements are determined in several time-based demand scenarios. A comparison of the assessment results shows that restrictions increase the reliability of performance progress, but can also lead to overcapacity, as opportunities for time optimization are lost and stochastic balancing effects are also lost.

Congratulations to Dr. Strasser on passing his oral examination with distinction and completing his doctoral studies!

Gernot Strasser was supervised by Prof. Frank Lulei while writing his dissertation entitled “Effects of restricted temporal freedom of disposition on the capacity planning of construction companies.” The dissertation was assessed by reviewers Prof. Gottfried Mauerhofer and Prof. Patrick Schwerdtner. Prof. Bernhard Hofko chaired the oral examination.
