Last week, the first ever "Testing Methods in Groundwater Engineering" course was concluded. The course included field work in the Hydrological Open Air Laboratory (HOAL) in Petzenkirchen, Lower Austria, as well as lab work in the TU Wien laboratory at Arsenal, Vienna.
Students learned how to perform several geophysics measurements, perform a pumping test to study the conductance of the groundwater aquifer, and do a soil column test with bromide to study the tracer's transport parameters.
The course was a great success and was met with a lot of enthusiasm. Thanks to Assistant Prof.Dr. Margaret Stevenson and Ao.Prof.Dr. Adrian Flores-Orozco for their organization and teaching, and to Gerhard Lindner and Dr. Thomas Oudega for their assistance, and thanks to all the students for their participation!
