TUtoolbox offers a selection of open source software for easy installation.

Well-known open source software packages can now be easily installed and updated with TUtoolbox.

To support the FOSS project and the open-source software concept in general, version 2025.1.0.713 (and newer) of the TUtoolbox, opens an external URL in a new window now includes the option to obtain open-source software in addition to the apps from TU Wien and software that can be ordered from the TUshop. To this end, an additional tab has been added to the selection menu, displaying a short list of available software.

Please note that this software is obtained directly from the Public Winget repository and that we have no influence on the version provided and its content.

The current list was created after a small survey. We are aware that additional software would be useful or is desired. At the same time, however, we do not want to offer a complete list of all open-source software, as this would no longer be easy for end users to navigate. We are looking for a middle ground. The currently very short list can be expanded on request, provided there is sufficient demand. For this purpose, a separate category for “Open source software in the TUtoolbox” has been created in the wish list, opens an external URL in a new window. Therefore, please request any software missing from the TUtoolbox in the wish list or support existing requests there. Please only request one piece of software per request.
