European and International Research Support (EIRS)

As a central service provider at TU Wien, the European and International Research office (058-01) provides information and support to researchers, management and administrative staff who are preparing and carrying out EU projects and other European or international research projects.

A key priority for our advice and support services is Horizon 2020 (2014-2020), the EU’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, which is built around three main pillars:

  •  EXCELLENT science
  •  Industrial LEADERSHIP
  •  Societal CHALLENGES

We also focus on other international and European research and technology initiatives. A summary diagram is given in the internal area.

As TU’s in-house point of contact for research projects, the European and International Research team provides the following services:

  • General information and advice on EU research programmes and technology initiatives (H2020, CIP, EUREKA, etc.)
  • Legislative, financial and administrative information and guidance during the application phase
  • Drawing up and examination of EU research contracts, consortium agreements and subcontracts
  • Fiscal and legal advice on current European and international research projects
  • Guidance on EU-compliant budgeting and cost statements
  • Organisation of EU information events
  • Development and dissemination of EU project management expertise at TU Wien
  • Statements to relevant stakeholders about EU research programmes and technology initiatives
  • Participation in TU-wide committees on ongoing developments in EU research programmes
  • Networking with agencies of the EU Commission and national and international research institutions
