Areas of responsibility

Our IT admin is the institute members' first contact point if they have any business-related issues with the IT infrastructure, and he will take care of any problems or requests regarding the hardware or software of their work IT environment.

This includes the acquisition and physical installation of hardware (such as servers, desktop PCs, laptops, small components and spare parts etc.) as well as the decommissioning and disposal of outdated equipment.

With regard to software, our IT administrator takes care of the installation of the operating system – most of the employees at ASC work under Linux – and software applications on the institute members' office computers. The institute also operates and maintains its own high performance computer which may be used by our employees for their research.

Furthermore, we are in regular exchange with the other IT departments at the faculty and work together to find the best IT solutions for the institute and the faculty.
