The aspern.mobil LAB (amL) is an urban mobility laboratory with a focus on neighborhood-based mobility in aspernSeestadt. The aim of amL is to make a joint contribution to the development of sustainable urban mobility in the dynamic context of the new district. In the current funding phase (summer 2021 - summer 2026), the focus is particularly on concrete implementation projects and the transferability of mobility solutions to other districts - the exchange with (inter)national networks is also ensured. The aspern.mobil LAB sees itself as a network between communities: together with residents of Seestadt science, administration and companies contribute to sustainable urban mobility!

The aspern.mobil LAB is funded by the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) as part of the "Mobility of the Future" program and is operated by the Research Unit Transportation System Planning (Institute of Spatial Planning) and the Research Unit Artifact-based Computing and User Research (Institute of Visual Computing and Human-Centered Technology) of the TU Wien. In addition to the operating organization, the core team of aspern.mobil LAB includes the following partners: Research Unit of Law (Institute of Spatial Planning, TU Wien); Wien 3420 aspern Development AG; Neighbourhood Management Office Seestadt aspern; Urban Innovation Vienna.

As part of the interdisciplinary team at TU Wien, the Research Unit of Law acts as a contact point for legal issues (legal think tank) in the implementation of innovative mobility concepts. On the basis of case studies, legal and organizational hurdles for the creation of experimental spaces and for the implementation of innovation projects are collected, processed and analyzed from a dogmatic legal standpoint. In the course of the long-term AML project, the need for legal action to adapt the legal framework for the use of public space for mobility solutions will be identified. Synergies exist with the ReNaMo research project funded by the Klima- und Energiefonds which is embedded in the amL.
