MoodleMoot DACH 2024 at TU Wien

Just like in 2019, MoodleMoot DACH 2024 will again be organized by TU Wien and will take place from September 3, 2024, to September 6, 2024, at TUtheSky. This year, it will be a 4-day, open, and free conference for all Moodle users, administrators, teachers, developers, and educators in the higher education environment, consisting of a 2-day DevCamp and a 2-day BarCamp.

The first part of the event, the MoodleMootDevCamp, is an open and free two-day hackathon for all developers, UX experts, QA professionals, but also anyone interested in Moodle. This event focuses on transforming original ideas into working code. At the beginning of the event, the ideas are presented by the participants during a 3-minute pitch. Everyone gets the chance to work on the project that most interests them. After like-minded individuals have found each other, participants are given space and time to produce actual code and present their results at the end of the second day. This year, the DevCamp participants will be supported during the two days by two Moodle HQ developers who will participate in the DevCamp as mentors.

The second part of the event, the MoodleMoot BarCamp, is an ad-hoc unconference (Wikipedia: BarCamp), where people can exchange ideas and learn from each other in an open setting. It is an event with discussions, presentations, and interactions among participants. At the start of the event, there is an Idea-Pitching Session where everyone has the opportunity to enter their topics of interest into the session plan or join existing topics. The program of a BarCamp is determined directly on-site by the participants. The flow of each "45-minute session" is independently organized by the participants. Switching sessions is even encouraged.

The MoodleMoot DACH primarily targets the following groups:

  • Moodle developers
  • Moodle users
  • Moodle administrators

Each target group will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, find answers to open questions, start projects, and be productive over four days.
