These 12 contributions, opens an external URL in a new window came about on the basis of various activities: either through a presentation at the conference on "Energy Spatial Planning - Challenges, Solutions and Next Level, opens an external URL in a new window" - hosted by the Institute of Spatial Planning and organized by Hartmut Dumke - or through a targeted invitation of colleagues by the editors* Rudolf Giffinger, Martin Berger, Kurt Weninger and Sibylla Zech. All contributions received were subjected to an open and partly multiple review process. The focus of the anthology is on contributions from the research, planning and teaching expertise of colleagues in Austria, Germany and the Netherlands on specific issues of the energy transition.
