Engineering next-generation combustion and conversion technologies for low-emission energy

We develop and optimize energy conversion technologies that enable a transition toward a carbon-neutral future. Our research combines experimental and modeling approaches to design fuel and combustion systems with reduced emissions and improved performance. Areas of focus include renewable fuel synthesis, carbon capture and utilization, thermochemical conversion, and fluidized-bed systems.

We work closely with industry to validate technologies under real operating conditions. Our accredited testing facilities provide a platform for assessing combustion systems, emission behavior, and plant efficiency. Through this combination of research and application, we contribute to cleaner energy production, improved system resilience, and the integration of renewable sources into modern energy infrastructures.

We are an international research partner for the sustainable use of biogenic raw and residual materials to reduce fossil carbon usage. Our work is based on decades of know-how in the thermochemical conversion of solid fuels for the conception and optimization of industrial plants. Our focus is the production of renewable and sustainable energy carriers. This means the production of syngas, purification to synthetic natural gas, hydrogen or base chemicals as well as carbon dioxide removal processes.
