Research profile

Philipp Stauss has been a university assistant at TU Wien, Institute of Building and Industrial Engineering, in the Integral Design research area since July 2023. His focus is on the integration of data-based methods in early planning phases to support well-founded and sustainable design decisions. He works with AI-based analysis approaches, digital twins and BIM-supported workflows for structured information processing in the planning process. By combining technology, design and sustainability, he contributes to the further development of integral planning strategies in the construction industry.

Focus

In the field of civil and environmental engineering, Philipp Stauss teaches digital planning processes with a focus on BIM, data-based design optimisation and AI-supported methods in early planning phases. He also heads the Integrated BIM Design Lab, where students work on model-based design and planning scenarios in an interdisciplinary manner. The focus is on integral strategies for connecting architecture, structural engineering and energy concepts with a particular emphasis on material efficiency, CO₂ reduction and resource-efficient construction. The aim is to enable well-founded planning decisions through structured information processes and to teach design practices that meet the requirements of sustainable construction methods.
