The degree program of spatial planning at the TU Wien celebrates its 50th anniversary. This provides an opportunity to look back, but even more to glance ahead into the future. The yearbook contains scientific articles, but also stories and anecdotes from the last decades. The contributions stimulate thought and the readers' own reflection on their spatial planning activities. It is a very special yearbook. We celebrate the 50th anniversary of the degree program in a world shaped by impact of the Corona Crisis. No matter how seemingly insurmountable the conditions may be, securing the sustainable development of space and our society through planning is and remains our primary goal. The TU Wien, and in particular the Department of Spatial Planning and Development, will continue to make its contribution to this goal in future research and teaching.
