In your Master's thesis, you will work independently on a problem in a topic area of your own choice, in terms of content and using scientific methods. In most cases, this is a question with practical relevance to your own working environment.

Im ersten Modul ‘The Big Picture: Differences, Commons and Synergies’ (5 days) wird die systemische Beziehung und die Wechselwirkung des Menschen mit dem Lebensraum (terrestrisch und extra-terrestrisch) und den jeweiligen technischen Lösungen unter die Lupe genommen. Dabei wird einerseits Expertise zum aktuellen Stand der Technik und Forschung vermittelt , als auch neues Wissen durch Synergieeffekte der fachübergreifenden Diskussion initiiert.

Das zweite Modul ‘Making most of what we have: Resources and Cycles’ (5 days) widmet sich dem großen Thema Ressourcen und Kreisläufe. Nachhaltige Ansätze, Kreislaufsysteme und Optimierungsstrategien werden als Voraussetzung für die langfristige Nachhaltigkeit jeder Wirtschaft angesehen, unabhängig davon, ob wir erwägen, im Weltraum oder auf der Erde zu leben. In diesem Modul lernen Sie von führenden ExpertInnen. Gemeinsam werden wir verschiedene Ansätze diskutieren und vergleichen, nach Synergien aus beiden Stoffwechselsystemen sowie neuen Ideen suchen.

Das dritte Modul ‘Innovating the Future’ (5 days) blickt weit in die Zukunft und vermittelt unterschiedliche Strategien und Herangehensweisen. Im Weltraum wiegen viele Systeme weniger, benötigen weniger Platz, weniger Energie und Ressourcen, sind effizienter und oft zuverlässiger  als ähnliche Systeme auf der Erde. In diesem Modul lernen Sie von den Erfahrungen in extremen Umgebungen und profitieren von den Strategien,  um mit ihren Einschränkungen umzugehen.

 

In Ihrer Master's Thesis bearbeiten Sie eine Problemstellung in einem selbst gewählten Themenbereich selbständig inhaltlich und mit wissenschaftlichen Methoden. Meist handelt es sich um eine Fragestellung mit Praxisbezug zum eigenen Arbeitsumfeld. 

Schedule

Our program is designed for professionals and allows you to balance your job, family and MBA. It allows you to work whilst developing new entrepreneurial skills, knowledge and competencies.

The program runs for 18 months and classes are taught in a block format usually from Thursday- Sunday, usually about every 4 weeks. In total, the program consists of 45 teaching days.

Didactics

All modules are divided into a preparation phase, the in-class time and a follow-up phase.

Electives

During the international module in Stuttgart, participants will visit the hotspots of the German automotive industry in the Stuttgart area. The international module offers an excellent opportunity to gain insights into various German automotive companies - from small engineering companies to suppliers and OEMs - how they work with their production systems and prepare for future challenges in the automotive industry, such as e-mobility. They will then visit the research laboratory at Reutlingen University and familiarize themselves with the latest research work.

The individual preparation phase for a module includes pre-readings, preparation of case studies, preparation of presentations, essays, etc.

A wide variety of teaching and learning methods are used in the courses: from flipped classroom to interactive case studies and simulations or calculations, to classic presentations as well as discussions, group dynamic exercises and reflections.

 

 

This is intended to consolidate or apply what has been learned. The follow-up phase includes the writing of term papers, reflection work or exams or working on case studies.
