Shortly after his presentation at the Essener Tagung, Steffen Kittlaus's work was published in an openaccess article.
The paper:

  • describes our concept and method behind the new database of micropollutant concentrations in the Danube River Basin
  •  shows the great added value of bringing together measurements from different environmental compartments and countries, together with their metadata, in a harmonised way to extrapolate data for unmonitored regions
  • highlights critical lacks in data collection and in data literacy, which hinder the full exploitation of the information gathered via monitoring campaigns.
