New team member at SRF: Lucas Reckhaus

Lucas Reckhaus

Lucas Reckhaus is a geographer specialising in geographic information systems (GIS), digital twins and spatial data analysis and visualisation.

Thanks to his many years of international professional experience with urban planning authorities, he has a broad knowledge of the current issues, goals and challenges that characterise urban development today. In the USA, he has worked for the New York City Department of City Planning, the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission and as a consultant for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In Germany, he has advised cities, municipalities and local authorities on how to optimise the use of the statutory XPlanungssystem for recording and exchanging development plans, land use plans, landscape plans and regional plans. He is also involved in nature conservation in East Africa, where he trains conservationists in the use of geodata as a pro bono consultant.

Lucas Reckhaus, opens in new window joined the SRF this March. In the coming years, he will support us in ongoing research, project and teaching activities.
