Successful start to the BauXchange workshop - experts and visionaries shape change

On March 7th, 2024, the first BauXchange workshop took place in the venerable domed hall of the TU Wien (Vienna), an initiative that aims to lay the foundation for a sustainable transformation in the construction industry. More than 70 experts from the fields of construction, planning, research and contracting came together to discuss and develop innovative solutions and strategies in a collaborative environment.

The event was initiated by Prof. Dr. Frank Lulei, Head of the Institute of Construction Process and Construction Economics at TU Wien, and DI Robert Schedler, Managing Director of FCP Fritsch, Chiari & Partner ZT GmbH. Their commitment to sharing knowledge and best practices created a platform where participants could discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sector in an ever-changing world.

The workshop focused on the key topics of "people", "sustainability", "digitalization" and "change". These areas were identified as crucial for promoting a resilient and future-proof construction industry. In six focused group sessions, initial solutions based on an integrated approach were developed taking these topics into account. The participants dealt with specific challenges and considered measurable key figures for successful implementation, the relevant stakeholders and potential resistance.

The positive feedback reflects the success and importance of the event. These valuable insights will help to further refine the format of BauXchange events. The organizers would like to thank everyone for their constructive feedback and active participation and look forward to welcoming the community back to future events.

The results and solutions of the BauXchange workshop will be further developed and presented to a wider audience at the upcoming Baukongress. The organizers are keen to develop the format further and invite participation in future events to continue the dialogue and collaboration.

The BauXchange workshop impressively demonstrated that change in the construction industry is not only a challenge, but also an opportunity. The willingness to change and the joint work on innovative solutions are the key to shaping a sustainable, efficient and future-oriented construction industry.
