Two awards at one conference

Honors for two presentations of the Surface Physics Group at the 2023 AVS Symposium: Panukorn Sombut was awarded the Graduate Student Presentation Gold Award and Alexander Imre was finalist for the Morton M. Traum Award of the Surface Science Division.

The international symposium of the American Vacuum Society (AVS) is one of the best known and biggest meetings in vacuum science and technology as well as related fields of science and technology. This year’s conference, opens an external URL in a new window was held in Portland, USA and was attended by several members of the IAP Surface Physics Group.

We were particularly pleased to learn that two of our PhD students could leave the conference with awards:

Alexander Imre was honored as finalist for the prestigious Morton M. Traum Award of the AVS Surface Science Division.

Panukorn Sombut was awarded the Graduate Student Presentation Gold Award for his talk in the session on „Fundamental Discoveries in Heterogenous Catalysis”.
