Workshop at Saga University / Kyushu, February 13-24, 2023

The workshop will be organized by Prof. Nobuo MISHIMA from Saga University in Kyushu/Japan for students of architecture and urban planning. Prof. Mishima, opens an external URL in a new window is an architect and urban planner, who has been working in the field of “machizukuri” (= “town making” - revitalization of urban spaces and buildings with citizen participation) for more than 20 years.

The workshop will take place from February 13 to 24^th at Saga university, including excursions to Hizenhama-shuku, opens an external URL in a new window, a historic coastal town with heritage protected areas consisting of traditional fishermen’s and merchants’ houses as well as sake breweries.

The task will be a small intervention in the form of a design project – either a revitalization of a historic building or of a small urban space.

Flight: (Vienna-Fukuoka): starting from ca. € 800 (to be organized individually)

Accommodation: at Saga university (about 2500-3000 Yen = €17-20/Night)
