Summer School Villach - Fundamentals and Trends in Microelectronics

End of August Infineon Austria und TU Wien host a summer school for TU master students. The application deadline is June 30, 2016.

From August 29 to September 2 2016, <link https: summerschool.rocks _blank>Summer School Villach on "Fundamentals and Trends in Microelectronics" takes place for the first time at Infineon in Villach. Both the Faculty of Technical Chemistry and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and IT contribute essential lectures. Dean Herbert Danninger sees a lot of potential in the Summer School Villach: "For the Faculty of Technical Chemistry, attendants have the chance to experience the full spectrum of cooperation between Infineon and TU Wien. Master students have the opportunity to develop and substantiate possible master thesis topics. Colleagues already working with Infineon get the chance of looking outward into new working areas."

Industry meets Academia

Infineon Austria provides insight in own developments as well as its location in Villach. An attractive social program supplements the curriculum for students. Discussion, networking, and exchange between industry, university, and students are the main focus within all activities. Günther Wellenzohn, host and head of innovation management at Infineon Austria emphasizes, that "universities and students are a crucial factor of success in a healthy R&D-ecosystem for Infineon. The summer school is an excellent opportunity to get in touch with experts of Infineon Austria and to learn a lot about the challenges of the semiconductor industry." Prof. Karl Unterrainer of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and IT states: "The summer school is a great opportunity to extend acquired theoretical knowledge by discussing current questions and trends in the semiconductor industry. Furthermore interesting contacts can be initiated within the industry."

Free participation for 35 students – the early bird application deadline is June 30
It is of special concern to enable as many interested students as possible to participate in the summer school. Hence Infineon Austria provides full funding. Master students of Technical Chemistry, Physics, and Electrical Engineering are the primary target group to participate in the summer school. The early bird application deadline is June 30, 2016.
