At the beginning of May, our new AdvaScope TimePix3 camera was delivered and installed at the TECNAI F20 behind the energy filter. It can record images and videos with nanosecond time resolution. This enables completely new experiments for measuring very fast processes in the sample. Moreover, together with the cathodoluminescence system, experiments on the quantum entanglement of electrons and photons are planned.

Additionally, the TimePix3 camera is extremely sensitive, enabling the precise determination of the position and time of impact of individual electrons. On the one hand, this leads to a substantial reduction in image noise. On the other hand, it paves the way for fundamental research regarding the interaction between electrons and matter.
