The new institute building "ZE" on the grounds of the Atomic Institute is almost finished. The offices on the upper floors are for the Atomic Institute, the ground floor and the laboratory areas in the basement are for USTEM. Since a few small things are still missing and the vibration dampers in the labs have not yet been installed, it will take a while before the building can be occupied. But as soon as this is done, TU Vienna will have the most modern electron microscopy centre in Europe! The laboratory planning is already designed for future requirements, so that the best conditions for such sensitive equipment as electron microscopes will be available in the near and distant future.
