„Lange Nacht der Forschung“ at the Klangen Art Station

Within the context of the "Lange Nacht der Forschung" (long night of research) in Lower Austria, the Research Unit of Regional Planning and Regional Development was represented by our colleague Sibylla Zech as well as our former diploma student Patrick Zöchling.

Sibylla Zech, the supervisor of the diploma thesis, opened the presentation with a lecture on "Public transport oriented settlement development under the aspects of climate and soil strategy". Afterwards, Zöchling presented his diploma thesis for the spatial planning future of Weinburg and 7 other municipalities along the Mariazellerbahn, which was awarded with the „Wissenscha(f)ft Zukunft“ Prize 2021, opens an external URL in a new window, at the art station Klangen. Afterwards, the visitors were led on a scientific walk along the communities of Weinburg and Klangen by Zöchling and Weinburg's deputy mayor Michael Strasser. During the walk, the potentials of sustainable settlement and mobility development identified in the diploma thesis were shown.
