Jens Schneider will be building on the excellent and pioneering work of Sabine Seidler, who has been Rector of TU Wien since 2011. Current Rector Sabine Seidler believes the future is in safe hands: "I am delighted that TU Wien has been able to appoint such a high-caliber candidate in Jens Schneider and I congratulate him on his success. His strong concept will ensure the continued positive development of TU Wien for the benefit of its staff, students and alumni. I look forward to working together closely with Jens Schneider over the coming year on an orderly transition and giving him a thorough introduction to TU Wien."
In May, the selection committee invited five candidates to public hearings at the university. Subsequently, the selection committee, with the involvement of the Working Group on Equal Opportunities, submitted its three-member proposal to the Senate. The latter in turn forwarded a proposal of three candidates to the University Council, which then made its decision. The University Council thanks all candidates for their highly qualified applications and all those involved in the election process.
