To be successful in the long term, companies must continuously invest in the development of their employees. The promotion of women is particularly important, as Silvia Angelo, Member of the Board of Management of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG, opens an external URL in a new window, emphasizes: "Supporting women on their career paths has always been a matter close to my heart. I am also committed to this at ÖBB! Especially in technology-driven companies, we need to focus on tomorrow’s business leaders today."

The TU Wien Academy for Continuing Education is pleased to contribute to this with its Corporate Impact Solutions. In mid-November 2022, the Masterclass Strategy took place at TU Wien as part of the Female Business Impact Program of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG. Martina Hacker, Strategic HR Manager ÖBB and Managing Director of the ÖBB Business Competence Center, welcomed the 14 participants from various departments of the company and put them in the right mood for the next two days.

At the workshop with Prof. Wolfgang Güttel, Dean of the TU Wien Academy for Continuing Education, the program included the basics of strategic management, the development dynamics of companies and reflection on one's own (leadership) behavior. He summarized the qualification goals as follows: "In the Masterclass Strategy, the high potentials were made fit for the challenges of tomorrow. They were given methodological tools to actively shape the major issues of mobility transformation."

The intensive training was rounded off by an evening event with game changers from ÖBB Infrastruktur AG. After an exclusive tour of the ALBERTINA MODERN, there was ample opportunity for networking and exchanging experiences.

At the end of January 2023, the Masterclass Finance & Business Simulation as part of the Female Business Impact Program of ÖBB Infrastruktur AG was held in the “Energiehochhaus” of the TU Wien. A haptic business game was used. With this didactic method, which simulates processes and conflicts of objectives in an abstract but realistic way, the participants gained a lot of experience in a very short time and without risks according to the principle of "learning by experimenting". By making business decisions themselves and experiencing their effects directly, many business contexts became clear.

Some of the Female Business Leaders identified strongly with their roles and found the two days very instructive and intensive. One satisfied participant summed up: "It was fascinating how the playful approach stimulated the ambition to make well-founded business decisions and thus to understand the commercial interrelationships in a short time. It was an ideal refresher for the knowledge learned at university a few years ago."

Roland Gutmann provided didactic support for the simulation and summarized the benefits of the business simulation as follows: "The participants mastered difficult situations and learned about the key success factors – such as customer orientation, communication, teamwork and functioning work processes – that lead to good business results. The business game method thus ensures maximum learning success and guarantees a sustainable transfer of learning. The participants were extremely active in the game. They grew very quickly into the "role of business management", made courageous decisions and had many "aha experiences" that led to the desired learning success."

During the two modules at TU Wien, the high potentials were able to take away valuable impulses for their work and establish new networks. The TU Wien Academy looks forward to continuing to accompany executives in their lifelong learning.
