Carpentries Workshop at TU Wien: Unix, Python and Git basics in two days

The online workshop will take place on 9 and 10 May 2022. The number of participants is limited, registration is still possible.

Workshop: Software Carpentry – Shell, Git, Programming with Python

Since last year, we have trained Carpentry, opens an external URL in a new window instructors at TU Wien. Together with experienced Carpentry colleagues, they are now offering their first two-day workshop. The course teaches basic computer knowledge and skills that support productive research activities. The aim is to enable researchers to do their work in less time and with less effort. No knowledge of the tools is required, a certain affinity for technology is sufficient.

The following topics are on the agenda:

  • interaction with the Unix shell and related task automation
  • programming in Python with a focus on data analysis
  • version control with Git to efficiently track changes of projects
