Career Spotlight: Helga Brun

Helga Brun began her career in 1991, starting with the “Technology and Law in Real Estate Management" program at TU Wien. After completing her studies and passing the trade examination (Gewerbeprüfung), she took over her parents' company and began to expand it. The training to become an immomediator followed in the subsequent years and in 2006 she took over the real estate brokerage company KREFINA Immobilien GmbH.

Ms. Brun is an examiner for trade examinations in the mastership examination center for real estate agents and administrators is a member of the ÖVI, FIABCI, Salon Real and regularly gives lectures for the Central Association of Home Owners.

The professional focus is on the renovation of old buildings, classic property management for co-ownership and apartment ownership, as well as brokering apartment buildings and residential properties

Her work has already been honored with the Immy - Gold twice, with the quality broker of the platform "find my home", 1st and 2nd place at the urban renewal award, the State Prize for Architecture and Sustainability 2019, the FIABCI Prix d'excellence 2021 and the Caesar for the best real estate manager in 2021.

What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far?

The reconditioning of a house, which was partially destroyed in a gas explosion, the consideration of the reconstruction up to completion.

In what ways did the qualifications acquired during the MSc program help you meet this challenge?

I learned the skills to manage houses in the TU course "Technology and Law in Real Estate Management". Our project let us calculate and implement a §18. That was the basis for the continuation of plinth renovations.

What (professional and / or private) goals have you set yourself for the next ten years?

To optimize my administrative portfolio structurally and economically, to implement further construction projects with sustainable energy and to create affordable living space.

Which future topics should real estate managers be concerned with?

Build and renovate in an energy-efficient way.

What do you still have in common with the Vienna University of Technology Academy for Continuing Education (formerly Continuing Education Center of the Vienna University of Technology)? Are you still in contact with other students or lecturers?

Nice memories, a good network. Yes, I still have contact with colleagues with whom I also maintain a lively exchange about our real estate topics.
